Tonight, we present what I hope will become a holiday tradition for our broadcast: A dramatic reading of some cool television!

We start this tradition with the classic Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Waltz", a portrait of ruthless dictator...and his Cardassian pal!

Roadblock will be playing Captain Benjamin Sisko, the commanding officer of a strategically important space port in a time of war, and Jack potrays Gul Dukat, a war criminal and former commander of that same space port. Dukat and Sisko share a complicated relationship that has seen them as adversaries and allies. It was never a smooth one, and in "Waltz", it comes to a head.

Beards and Jackets to Acquire "Late Nite JengaJam"

Philadelphia, PA/Boston, MA (04/01/2011) — The entertainment conglomerate Beards and Jackets LTD, the official name of the entertainment brand of Travis Yak, has acquired the long-running podcast "Late Nite JengaJam", hosted since 2006 by J.G. Edathil, for an undisclosed sum.

"We're excited to expand our brand's podcast offerings," Yak offered in a prepared statement, "Late Nite JengaJam has a very loyal audience that we're looking to reach out to. And we intend to, washed hands or no!"

What remains unclear is how many of the JengaJam staff are staying on for the transition. While Beards and Jackets LTD was able to confirm John Sedlack and Josh Ruble would be staying on, "This Week in Geek"'s Lauren "Oboe" Crazy has often expressed frustration at the antics of the Beards and Jackets Conglomerate, which also includes famed Cryptozoologist Richard Trueblood.

Reuters and Variety have reported that Beards and Jackets LTD is in talks to spin Jonathan "Roadblock" Serna into his own "CalienteCast" in an attempt to reach into the ever-increasing Hispanic Market.

JengaJam founder and incumbent host J.G. Edathil, currently playing the role of "Jack Edathil", has inked a 2 year contract to host a new reality podcast "The Internet's next top Jenga Block", which will document the search for an heir to his podfather throne.

"Aside from video, reality podcasting is really the future of this industry." Edathil contributed. "By combining the intimacy of audio with the compelling drama of real people in contrived situationas, we're really hoping to turn the quest for celebrity into some quality entertainment."

Late Nite JengaJam is a long running pop-culture and new media podcast that airs live every Tuesday at 10:30pm.

Have you ever wanted to have a segment on a modestly popular long running podcast with a strong cult following? Now here's your chance. For those of you who listened with ears green with envy when Lauren read the news for This Week in Geek, we announce:

THE LATE NITE JENGAJAM SEGMENT SHOWCASE CONTEST!

Here's your chance to develop a 5-10 minute segment for Late Nite JengaJam. If you're interested, all you have to do is:

1) Post a topic in our forums with SEGSHOW: (Name of Your Segment) as the title. If you don't have a RoosterTeeth account, they have open ID and you can sign in using Facebook or Google.

2) Build some enthusiasm for your project. Get people posting in there. You can develop the concept in there if you want.

3) The topic can be anything you want it to be, so long as we can broadcast it, you can do it!

4) At the end of April, we'll take the 5 best segment ideas (as decided by the JengaJADMINS) and put each of them live an on the air Tuesday, May 3!

5) The segment with the most votes will become the OFFICIAL second featured segment of LNJJ, airing at least once a month or whenever we can't do "THIS WEEK IN GEEK"

Glenn Beck: Astonishingly Ignorant About India

Wow.

You'll notice that there isn't very much in the way of facts so much as feeling in Beck's rant. Cenk Uygur does a pretty good job of taking Beck to task for saying some pretty tasteless (Hur Hurr Ganges sounds like a disease Hurr Hurr; no terlets in India) and ignorant things that really had nothing to do with his point.

The fact is that Health Tourism is huge in India, people from the U.S and Europe do fly in and save enough on medical procedures and surgeries that the average $1000 ticket is not a deterrent. The doctors are in fact skilled and capable. As Cenk mentions, you'd be hard pressed to find a hospital in the U.S. without several Indian doctors.

I can draw one of two conclusions:

1) Beck is so isolated that he's encountered absolutely nothing to challenge the stereotypical assumptions about what India is like, which itself is problematic because a subcontinent of a billion people, 22 official languages and 7 religious traditions with a million adherents or more.

2) Beck, like many, draws his conclusions first and tries to hammer his round facts into a square peg. But again, there's not much in the way of facts from him so it's more like a 5th grade essay called "India?! Yuck!"

Either way, Indian Americans are waaay too quiet about shit like this. Or maybe too busy being successful, despite the handicap of an Indian education that leaves you fluent in three languages like it did my mom and dad, to notice.

The first time I met Nico, he was wearing that very shirt, walking around Queen's Park at RvBTO 2006. Nico was also the very first high-profile guest on the show, having been the frontman for the band that did the music for Red Vs Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles. and I was a nervous nelly. Up to that point I had been interviewing people I talked to every day on redvsblue.com While the good sir is my friend, he also had a substantial fan following, more fans, probably, then all the previous guests I had had on the show combined. Suddenly, I was kind of in the spotlight.

I somehow managed to stammer through it. And, as usual, OboeCrazy pulls my butt out of the fire with awesome questions I never even considered.

Luckily, it was a great show and a great interview. Nico did not spare praise and was gracious enough to promote the appearance himself. There's a good deal of stuff on Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, but also some jewels about The Uggos, his collaboration with Jeff Williams and soundtrack to the The Sims-based machinima The Strangerhood that lead to the current incarnation of Trocadero. It's a great dissection of his work and, in my view as a Trocadero fan, a must-listen for anyone who likes the band.

I want to personally thank my listeners for making Late Nite JengaJam one of the Top 25 Talkshoe Talkcasts for Live Participation. It means a great deal to me that you guys take time out of your day to listen to some of the best and brightest the internet has to offer.

That being said, I want Late Nite JengaJam to be the best show it can be. I want to invest in technology that's going to help me clean up the audio on past podcasts. I want to get text transcripts for past shows. I also want equipment that will allow us to finally have live musical performances for our listeners.

I definitely want to put together compilation CDs--a sort of "Best Of JengaJam", with clearer sound and tons of bonus goodies.

But I need your help to make it happen. And you will get something for your Jenga-invested-dollars.

The bad news is we're taking this Thursday off.

The good news is that we're coming right back this SATURDAY (7.14) AT 11:00PM Eastern Time for a heaping helping of some Late Nite JengaJam!

For the first time in the history of our humble talkcast, we broacast live in front of an audience, namely, the good people hanging out at The Ram in The Rye in Downtown Toronto, Canada. Most of these folks are in town for Red Vs Blue: Toronto, one of the largest machima/social network gatherings on the North American Continent. I'm sure people will have alot to talk about after the screening of the 5th and final season of the popular web series "Red vs Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles", as well as paintball and various other adventures in Canada's biggest city.

So, I took Mondays off for the last couple months, but now I...or should I say we are back and more fabulous than ever!

In the first half of 2007, I collaborated with (The)Steffasaurus of both RedVsBlue and YouTube fame on a little ditty called "The Steffasaurus Tapes" (check them out in the talkshoe player), whereby I'd ask the questions asked on her RedVsBlue profile for her "Ask Me Anything Monday" feature and she'd answer, live an on the air, much to the delight of her fans.

On the fourth and final special, I called it quits. This is a move that Steff sees as the biggest blunder since ABC cancelled "Full House." But, I swore never to bring it back.

For this, our first trip to the Wayback Machine, we revisit the very first episode of Late Nite JengaJam, featuring former comedian and soon-to-be-3-time RvBTO host BigNiceJohn.

A considerably less experienced Jengaship conducts an interview with one of the friendliest Torontonians around. Less polish and pizzaz, but more talking about the brave new podcasting world. And even a podcast bitch by the name of "The WhyMy" to smack around! RvB, Toronto, Wrestling, and even Canadian politics were on the menu this time around.

Late Nite JengaJam Primer

Welcome to those of you who've heard of the show from Wizard World Philly and Heroes Con in Charlotte!

If you're checking out the show for the first time, I recommend you give a listen to the following shows in particular.

Episode 13: Nico Suave. Interview with the frontman of the Boston-area band Trocadero, about how a cool cat like him ended up making music for machinima...and loving every second of it.

Episode 22: Breeden Interest in The Devil's Panties. Jennie Breeden, who is awesome, btw, joined us for a particularly awesome JengaJam about conventions, pirates, but not satanic porn. Necessarily.

Episdoe 23: First Degree Burnie Burns. Burnie talked a great deal about the machinima series he helped create, a certain Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles, as well as the community that's grown around it.

Episode 25: Halo With Finch. Our Episode with FinchLynch, creator of the webseries PNCILS, was recorded while we were both playing Halo online. Kind of like "Fishing With John", but with less Jim Jarmusch.

The Steffasaurus Tapes. A not-so-blatant ripoff of Wordballoon's Bendis Tapes, but with an actress/model/dinosaur. She breaks hearts and I make fun of her fans. Four volumes to choose from. Pick any from the badge.

The show posits the question of why Americans have to be pigeonholed into categories as narrow as "liberal" or "conservative". Would we be better off with less government than we have now? Is either party really championing that? We delve deep into the world of Libertarianism and the coming federal election cycle.
